RubyliXious

Dear readers,

if you are following me on Instagram, you might know, that I started studying Advertising Design. I decided to study beside working, because I wanted to keep my job as digital media designer and web developer. I have to commute a lot, but it will be three years I have to go through.

The first week is over now and I had a lot to plan and a lot to reorganize. I knew it before, I won't have time to breathe, but I am definitely happy with my decision. We saw a lot and my college offers us a lot of possibility to be creative. Workshops, laboratories, studios and a lot more. I can't believe I will study there for the next three years.

The first course was absolutely stunning, where we need to be creative and we had to show our skills. Not only the college is amazing, the people there amazed me too. They were all so talented I felt like a wallflower in first grade in elementary school.

sketchbook

I prepared my portfolio for my bachelor and I had to tidy out so many works, but there are some I had to show you. My work includes my personality. As I'm working on my blog I had to think about the word "ruby", so I actually created my own character. But since I change the logo of RubyliXious, I never used it.

I have to warn you, I will have less time for my blog, but I attempt to post regularly. Happy weekend!

Dear readers,

the best trip so far is definitely the trip with my little sister to Abu Dhabi. We were excited for this trip months before it started. It wasn't even expensive at all, as we were travelling out of season time. We also booked our trips and planned everything at home. The first time we travel to UAE.

abu dhabi, UAE, travel

My sister and I stayed in the luxury Hilton hotel. The hotelroom was huge and the furnishings are exclusive and chic. We were never in the united emirates before, so we learned about their rules and tratidions first. But Abu Dhabi was different. The people were open minded and most of the time it was too hot for long clothes. But it was really okay to wear short stuff and I was still aware of not breaking rules like wearing shorts or short skirts in mosques.

After the first day which we used for discovering the city a little bit, we planned our first trip which took the whole day. The desert safari was a trip we had to do, so they pciked up early in the morning in a Lexus SUV. There were several more SUVs and it looks like a car caravan in the desert. I just can recommend this trip, because it felt like being in a rollercoaster as the car driving the dunes up and down.

After desert car trip they took us to a place where we could ride on camels, sandboarding and more. In the late evening there was a huge BBQ with all the participants of the desert safari. The food was better than I expected for the price and the late night show gave us the oriental feeling.

The next day we booked the trip to the famous two theme park on YAS island. There was several combi tickets and we decided to buy a premium combi ticket for both. We started in the Yas Waterworld and we never were in a water theme park before. It was strange first to ride the rollercoaster in bikinis. I felt a little bit naked, but it was totally fun and worth it.

In the late afternoon we changed the theme park. Next to the Yas waterworld there was the Ferrari World. If we had visited the Ferrari World one week later we could have catch up the Formula 1. But we still enjoyed the fastest rollercoaster in the world and the theme park itself. As a huge race and cars fan I loved it there and I had to get some souvenirs as well, even they were expensive as hell.

The rest of the week, we spent our time (and our money) in the great malls of Abu Dhabi. There are so many shops we don't have in Germany, so we had to exploit the opportunity. Unluckily, we were both girls with only 30 kg baggages. We rarely visited the beach, but it was okay for me. The beach was beautiful, but as we were in UAE, the beach were seperated in women and men and family. The women beach is nearly empty, but there was still a lifesaver and it was too awkward for my sister and me to be there.

As we were heading home, which was at 2AM, we were driving by some clubs. They looked so luxury and noble, but my sister was underaged so we had to pass the clubbing part. We will return for sure, but next time we have to take a trip to Dubai as well.

Dear readers,

I think since the day I started to use makeup, I always had a favourite makeup brand. It changes a lot and it mostly depend on the product. But I recognize I use Smashbox a lot. My best friend presented me a contour kit by Smashbox on my birthday once and I was curious about the brand.

smashbox

I took advises of makeup artist I know and I collect samples to learn more about the brand and at least, I can't stop buying them.

smashbox, photo finish primer oil, studio skin foundation
smashbox, always on liquid lipstick

I swear on the Smashbox photo finish primer oil I used it nearly every day. Just nearly every day, because this product is always sold out! I planned to buy more in reserve. Never using the foundation of Smashbox before, but I read loads of positive comments about it. I actually use the perfect match by L'Oréal, but it don't last all day long. And I need the matte effect.
I will create my makeup look with this foundation soon.

My next growing collection is the always on liquid lipstick. The colours are absolutely pigmented and matte and they definitely beat my MAC matte lipsticks collection. They last a whole day and a whole night, but it's getting really dry on my lips. My trick is to put vaseline on my lips or the photo finish primer oil to make my lips a little bit moist again.

smashbox, mascara, full explosure, x-rated

I also tried out the different mascaras and I am convinced of the x-rated mascara. I bought it by advise from a makeup artist. It's a little bit more expensive than the full explosure mascara, but the quality is much better. The full explosure mascara has a mini me, and the mini me is definitely much better than in original size.

smashbox

I order my products online right from their site, since I recognize there are more benefits and cheaper to get them on their page. You don't even need to be a member to get a lot of discounts on the products. I just wished they are working on the texture and formula of their always on liquid lipstick making the lips less dry.

That would make me sooo happy.

Dear readers

the best part of being a woman is having all those pretty clothes and stuff, makeup, attention and long hair. Okay, nowadays men can have it all as well. But in this case I am pretty conservative. Men shouldn't wear makeup and long hair should match to that type of man.

fineliner sketching

In some way I either like drawing woman than man. I don't know if it's because of the hair. I test my skills in drawing with fineliner pens lately and drawing hair was the easiest part. I took a picture of myself as a little helper. My hair is really way too long.

I needed to sketch it with pencil first because I'm not that good. Drawing hair is unbelievable relaxing. And I need to sketch more as college starts in a few days. I'm pretty nervous to give up my full time job, but it is a new chapter I have to accept.

Dear readers,

I never thought that much about phone cases before, but since I had the chance to try out the phone cases by ideal of Sweden, I can't resist to try out phone cases. I usually use one standard for my phone, when it's getting used and broken, I change it. And the design of my cases were simple and cheap and so was the quality.

Anyway, as mentioned I had the chance to try out some cases by ideal of Sweden. And I may choose two different styles. I chose one for me and one for my sister.

phone cases, ideal of sweden

My sister wanted a girly but classy one. She decided to pick the pilion pink marble case for her iPhone 6S plus. As the iPhone 6S plus is pretty huge, it was a good decision to pick a simple one, with less pattern. The light colour gradient from light rosé and pink with marbled pattern make it looks very noble. The surface of the case is smooth, so the marble effect is just graphic.

I wanted a marbled case as well, but I choose the colours of my phone. The marble pattern is in gold on white background with the same material. The pattern is more edgy and it looks like gold cracked white phone case and I love it. The carrara gold phone case looks luxury and noble and not too girly, which was my intention.

The price is pretty high, but the quality speaks for itself. I saw some cases where the graphic is pixelated and the surface is rough. I like it when I can slide my phone on the table and with the surface of the phone cases by ideal of Sweden the slide effect is available. The material is very stable and they have a lot more cases to choose. The collection always matches to the season.

I can't wait for the new collection. Have a nice weekend!

Dear readers,

firstly, black is a colour. Having art as advanced course in school and mainly after my apprenticeship as digital media designer, I know black is definitely a colour. So anybody, who says black is my favourite colour, is not wrong!

But what I want to tell is actually, why I always wear black. Black makes you look skinnier? Yeah, maybe, but that's not why I'm wearing black that often.

black, ootnblack, ootn
velvet choker by forever 21
knotted tank top by bershka
silk jogger pants by H&M
sandals by bershka
bracelet by forever 21

For me, it matches perfectly to my skin, to my hair and to my type. As I am plumper than other asian women, I can't wear light colours. So, I even wear black with black. For me it looks very sophisticated to combine black with black. And it is more fun then to set colours as highlights as in accessories, shoes and even makeup.

In this outfit, I had to look stylish and classy as the theme of the party was my fathers class reunion. I chose the knotted tank top with a silk jogger. It made it comfortable for the whole evening. And the accessory part was actually easy. I thought about a statement necklace first, but I decided to wear a black velvet choker instead. To choose the shoes was absolutely my favourite! I like my grungy boho sandals which made my look more edgy.

I will attempt to post more outfit posts, but I warn you, it will be mostly in black.

Dear readers,

I think it is important for me, even on this blog, to restore some of my posts mainly in the travel section. Since I getting started with college lately I can't travel. Busy with study and work, force me to put my travel destinations on the end of my bucket list right now. But as I said, I liked wallow in my travel memories. And I like to start with the first trip of Niclas and me.

He was in Australia for a couple of months which was really hard for us, so he promised me to travel with me right when he's coming back.

Turunc, travel

We booked our hotel in Turunc and I really have to commend this hotel and generally this place. The food was awesome, the people was friendly and there are a lot of activities you can do e.g. we did the boat trip where they take you to different bays and you could swim in the open sea.

The only thing that disappoints me was the shopping trip in the neighbor city Marmaris. I couldn't really enjoy going shopping, because most of the stuff are fake ones. I thought I would find a beautiful little boutique, but every boutique sells the same "typical turkey" stuff.
At least I bought souvenirs at the airport in duty-free shops and a souvenir-shop in turunc.

Turunc, travel

This vacation was restorative and its strengthen our relationship a lot. Our first trip together and we actually handle it perfectly. I can't wait for more trips with him. It would be awesome to see the world with him.

Dear readers,

I am crazy about lipsticks. My very first lipstick is "Ruby Woo" by MAC Cosmetics. The colour ruby woo was my inspiration for my pseudonym "RubyliXious". But MAC is not only famous for its lipstick. There are lot more to discover, but not everything is good. I was absolutely disappointed in the primer of MAC, so I gave MAC up for a little while. My sister had the idea to buy me bronzer and highlighter of MAC for my birthday and I was skeptical first.

MAC, highlighter, bronzer

I tried out a lot of bronzer and highlighter, but I was not satisfied. I like light highlighter with glitter and bronzer with glitter as well. But most of the bronzer and highlighter with glitter were too much to handle. Therefore, I was happy about the quality of the products my sister bought me.

Not only happy, I am flashed, literally. These are definitely my favourites of MAC. I really love my lipsticks, but I can't live without these. I don't actually use them just for bronzer and highlighter. They are perfectly as eye makeup as well. They contouring my face and it the best part I look fabolous with all the glitter on my face.

MAC, highlighter, bronzer

And as we all know the quality of MAC, it lasts the whole day and night. The price is fair for this quality. I have mine since April now and I still have a lot, so I think I don't need to rebuy it so often. So, the price is really fair.

Dear readers,

I fought against my thoughts. And against my lazyness. For about a couple of months now to start completely new with my blog. Getting more professional. And mostly implementing my evolvement of design skills. Three years after my apprenticeship, I just had to start a comeback. My old blog and its template was horrible. I couldn't represent myself on that blog any longer.

I was getting exhausted and lazy about the blog. I couldn't get myself up to write new posts. But now, I was brave enough to let this happen.

rubylixious

It all started with the redesign of my logo and the branding in general. I used fonts before, but now I knew it has to be my own. No free fonts and also no to paid fonts. I designed it myself. The next step was to find main colours matching to me. Black and white was too simple and not innovative enough. So I mixed my own colours and created my own colour theme. I insisted on black and white, but mixed it with anthracite and blue. The highlight colour has to be rose mixed with gold.

The next step was to find a template, but a simple one, where I can individualized it myself, after improving my skills in HTML, CSS and Javascript. As I am reforming the template matching to my own design, months passed by. The last step was the most difficult one.

I had to clean up my social media accounts. It costs a lot of time to get likes and followers on Instagram, but it has to be done. I deleted it all. It has to match perfectly to my blog.

But I'm pretty relieved right now. Sure, some fixing stuff needs to be done and I already prepared for new sponsors and mainly for the new me. I hope to care more about this blog than my other one.

Even college will start in october for me, I just have to focus on this as well.
So, stay tuned and evolve with me and my blog.
